Spirituality is everyone’s property, and so anyone who is inspired by higher and more beautiful things in nature can make a religious film. I have always thought that the best movies do more than just simply entertain. A good movie will encourage its viewers to live a more enlightened, ideal existence. That is why I have always loved watching spiritual movies better than some of the disgraceful Hollywood thrills that I infrequently indulge in. A spiritual movie doesn’t essentially have to be one that is designed by some sort of religious group. As long as it is designed to encourage people to be better, kinder, more tolerant people, it qualifies in my book. More on fun activities. For me, some of the most spiritual movies are really Hollywood blockbusters.

Unlike many more simpleminded films, however, the Star Wars movies have a message that redemption is obtainable to anyone. For example, there is quite a bit that is spiritual about the Star Wars movies. They deal with an ageless question – the struggle of good versus evil. Even Darth Vader, through the involvement of Luke Skywalker, is able to become a good guy in the end. Of course, some spiritual videos are more narrowly targeted. Sometimes, just seeing a spiritual leader speaking to you on the screen is enough to help you break through that last boundary of misunderstanding and really get what they’re explaining. One thing that I found interesting is how spiritual movies can teach specific spiritual truths that may be hard to understand through a book.

It has a lot to do with the method the movie sets the tone too. Some of my favorite spiritual movies are the more pragmatic ones. I’ve been using guided meditation videos for about six months now, and I have to say that they have actually helped me. Having gentle, spiritual music, beautiful images, and just the right flow will help your mind to understand things that might be hard to get otherwise. Sometimes, it is difficult to get into the right mindset to consider by yourself. Even when I begin watching these movies a lot, they usually continue to work for me for quite a while. Having spiritual movies where wise teachers are able to talk me through it really makes it a lot easier for me. When I get tired of the same old guided meditation film, I can always go out and get another one and give that one a rest for a while.

My library of spiritual movies has gotten quite extensive, as you might imagine, so I have plenty of choices of different meditations to use. It is nice to see that technology can actually be used to bring us closer to the spirit.

Scrapbooking is slowly making its way into the hearts of many Americans. It is a great way to bring people together, preserve memories, and give a heart-felt gift. custom scrapbookingare generally inexpensive and readily available. Making your own scrapbook is often cheaper than scrapbooking supplies done by a business. Making a scrapbook can take a great deal of time, but it truly is the ultimate gift. We always heard that it’s the thought that counts, and a scrapbook shows lots of thought and love. Additionally, scrapbooks are full of nostalgia and joy. Heartwarming images and memorabilia are brought together using whimsical designs and layouts. It is never a bad idea to give someone a scrapbook.

One of the best occasions to give a scrapbook for is high school graduation. I made one for my older brother, and it made him tear up. A great way to go about this is to take everything important during their four years of high school and designate a page for each. I made a sports page, and academic page, a page for his senior trip, and a page for each of his 6 closest friends. The friend pages included letters written by each friend. These pages were the most touching part of the scrapbook; however it took a lot of planning. Scrapbooks do require thought and planning, but they are fun and meaningful.

In addition, creating a scrapbook for a wedding anniversary can be very touching. They are great gifts for big anniversaries such as 20 or 40 years of marriage. Getting written letters is also very touching for these scrapbooks. You can have close friends and family members write to them about their experiences with the couple and just how they see the two people. Getting pictures from the wedding, early years of their marriage and their kids is not only necessary, but an adventure!. When making a scrapbook such as this, you have to know the people so that you can make a connection on a personal level.

Lastly, making a scrapbook for your young ones as they age is tons of fun. This gives the individual something to look back at to remind them of their childhood, and it can be a fun parent-child activity. These usually start when the child is a baby with baby pictures and “first” moments. However, as the kid ages, parents and children can create pages together. It’s the perfect rainy day activity.

Some occasions are tricky to pick gifts for, but a scrapbook is almost always appropriate. A scrapbook can be formal or informal, serious or whimsical, expensive or easy-done. What people most enjoy when they receive a scrapbook is knowing that the person thought about their gift. Taking the time to try and make something that comes from the heart is a trait someone will appreciate. In addition, a well-done scrapbook is truly awesome. It can hold so much nostalgia for a person in such a fun package! When in doubt about what to give for mother’s day, Valentine ’s Day or graduation, never feel bad about falling back upon the scrapbook plan. It is foolproof.

The Good and Bad Aspects of the Internet

The internet has changed daily life in so many aspects, and still is. The way people communicate, do work, share information, and even travel has all been digitalized. Everyone seems to be connected nowadays. Some one in India can talk to someone in America almost directly. Even things like Scrapbooking albums have changed, instead of Scrapbooking on paper, people scrapbook internet albums. The internet can be used by virtually all people. There are users as young as four years old to senor citizens. This availability in the world can also be unhealthy. In the past five years we have seen a climb in inter-net related crimes. It can be a very sharp double sided sword, extreme good and extreme bad can come from the internet.
If used constructively, the internet is a powerful tool. It can be a great mean to get in touch with with distant loved ones. Sites such as my space and face book bring people together. Personally, I wouldn’t have one if it weren’t for the fact that it allows me to keep in touch with relatives in Maryland and friends in Minnesota and Palestine. I know a family friend whose son visited Chile and they used face book to keep in touch, send photos and document his journey. If it weren’t for the internet, he wouldn’t have spoken much to his son for three months because there was no cell phone service in Chile.
However, if used inappropriately or in a dangerous fashion, the internet is dangerous. Unfortunately, no one can find a way to completely control predators on the internet. So, letting children on the internet can lead them into serious trouble if they misuse it. Learning proper internet safety procedures is key to using the internet wisely. Also, parents should block adult or unfit sites from their children.
The internet can also be dangerous for adults. Sites such as Craig’s list and eBay are playgrounds for scams, con artist and predators. On eBay, being fooled is easy and you may end up buying a faulty product or something that you never get. Scamming on this site has become an art, however it can be avoided if careful. In the news recently, there have been murderers and inappropriate users reported on Craig’s list. The Police can’t patrol this site, so these things can occur. Millions of people are selling and buying on this site, it is easy to get away unnoticed. Children should never use websites like this, and adults should be careful.
When used correctly, the internet can do great things. Sometimes however, our high tech world can be for the worse. Cyber space is a readily available world that can’t be patrolled easily, so lots of predators and con artists find homes there. Falling into their traps is easy too. However, if you exhibit simple safety rules, it is also a piece of cake to avoid them. When communicating on the internet, never talk to someone you don’t recognize. Never post personal information for websites that aren’t confidential. If you follow these simple guidelines, {the internet can be a fun, useful pace for you|you will only gain positive things from the internet

Various Leisure activities for seniors

One of the greatest success stories in supplying popular books is the Readers Digest Condensed Books series, also known as Readers Digest Select Editions. These anthology books are available through subscription on a bi-monthly basis. Each volume contains three to five books that are classed as top sellers. The titles are mostly novels and they are selected by Readers Digest editors. The books are cautiously condensed; retaining the spirit of the book, so nothing essential is lost. The well-known series began in the 1950s. People were looking to a brighter future after the austere years of the Second World War and many wanted to read the well-known novels of the day. Money was still tight for a lot of people however, and Readers Digest Condensed Books were fairly priced and gave good value. Early titles incorporated The Wooden Horse by Eric Williams,

The Caine Mutiny by Herman Wouk, and The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Monsarrat. The volumes have always been a mixture of classic and contemporary stories, presenting thrillers, romance, adventure and comedy. Diversity has always been the key for Readers Digest Condensed Books and titles in the 1960s included A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Goodbye Mr. Chips by James Hilton, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and The Spy Who Came In From the Cold by John Le Carre. Some readers were already familiar with the stories through their movie adaptations. The 1970s brought Love Story by Erich Segal, The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth, and Jaws by Peter Benchley. In the 1980s, the catalog featured Patriot Games by Tom Clancy and A Matter of Honour by Jeffrey Archer.

There was also Gracie, written by comedian George Burns and Anne Frank Remembered, the moving account of Miep Gies, a friend who had helped to hide the Frank family from the occupying German troops in Amsterdam in World War II. More best sellers followed in the 1990s, delighting the loyal customers who looked forward to each edition of the Readers Digest Condensed Books. They incorporated The Rainmaker by John Grisham, Disclosure by Michael Crichton, and Thunder Point by Jack Higgins. The success of the books series is assured as the top titles are selected and cautiously presented to the public for their enjoyment, and still reasonably priced. There was also the much-anticipated sequel to an epic book. Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley carried the story on from where Margaret Mitchell had left it in Gone With the Wind.
